How to fully turn off mac so it doesn't power up when any key is pressed? (MBP 2018 15")

Is there a way to fully turn off the mac so key presses don't power it on?

  • I have tried shutting it down
  • Long pressing the power button until it turns off

Both of those methods turn on the mac if any key is pressed. I am trying to clean my keyboard and the computer keeps turning on.

How does the service team turn it off?

What is the point of having a power button if any button turns it on?

The best way I found to clean the keyboard—when it is booted, use the keys Control Command Q

this will in effect lock the screen and keyboard, only after you enter the correct psswd will the keyboard register and become active again.
