AppleTV app video's not playing; only audio.

So I was watching a series on my monitor which is plugged through an HDMI cable connected to a USB-C adapter to my MacBook Air (2021 M1). All was good when suddenly video just stopped playing and instead I got a black screen, but audio was still playing without issues. Whenever I unplug my monitor, everything's fine but if I want to watch it again on my monitor it just won't let me. I don't know why it just stopped working. I can play any video on any streaming site but if I want to watch it on my Apple TV app then it's a different story. Anyone know how to fix this?

Verify that your adapter is HDCP compliant. Is it the Apple adapter or a different brand? What are its specifications?

Verify that the HDMI cable. What are its specifications (Gbps rating)?

Verify that the video settings for the monitor are correct for the HDMI connection. Is the monitor SDR or HDR? What resolution?

Hello floydismo,

We understand that your Apple TV+ app is not displaying properly when connected to an external monitor. We're happy to offer some suggestions that may help.

If restarting your Mac doesn't help, we'd next suggest following How to use safe mode on your Mac to test this behavior in safe mode. Depending on the results of that test, the article includes the next best suggestions for if the issue does or does not continue in that environment.

We hope this helps!
