The Recently Deleted folder is missing

On my wife's iPad running 15.2, she can't find the Recently Deleted folder under the Utilities dropdown. Is is possible to accidentally get rid of that folder? And if so, how do we get it back.

I deleted a few photos just now and the Recently Deleted folder is still missing.

She doesn't use iCloud so everything is on the iPad.

The "Recently Deleted" will not been shown, if it is empty.

Have you checked, if iCloud Photos has not accidentally has become enabled?

If iCloud Photos should be enabled, and she does not have enough cloud storage, any deleted photo will be deleted instantly, without being saved in Recently Deleted to help you free the cloud storage quickly. The album will remain empty and not been shown, until enough cloud storage has been freed. So check, if a recent system upgrade has not enabled iCloud as a default, without you being aware of it.

When you tested by deleting more photos, where did you delete them from? photos you remove from albums or Shared albums are not saved in Recently Deleted, only photos you delete from the library.

Thanks. Or should I say danke? ;)

I still don't have that folder. Her iCloud has not been turned on. The photos (videos actually) she is looking for were sent via AirDrop from her iPhone. Those photos and videos have been deleted for sure.

What's strange is I've deleted a few more photos and I'm still not getting the folder.

I did notice that the few additional photos I have deleted are from her Photo Stream.

Okay, I just rechecked the iPad. I deleted an old photo I knew was not part of her Photo Stream and now have the Deleted Items folder.
