Touch ID

My Touch ID button seems to have quit. In attempting to add a print the button gets warm, fingerprint screen to enter comes up, but red lines I usually see do not appear.

this is first time this has occurred

iPad 8, running 15.1

have restarted iPad to no effect.

main concern is obviously opening apps that use my Finger Print.
