Samsung PortableSSD Software can't be installed

I can't install the Samsung Portable SSD software for both the T5 and the T7. During the installation process, it stops and I get the error message that the software can't be installed.

My guess is it is related to the kernel extension requirements for the encryption of the SSD. Usually, I should be prompted to allow access in the security settings. However, I don't get this question. I already checked and the all required settings for this process are ok (e.g. changing preferences while booting the mac).

Going through the files however, I can see that there is a version of the kernel extension not only in the library/extensions folder but as well in library/stagedextensions/library/extensions folder. The latter I understood is an intermediate area. I don't know, whether this causes the issue.

Unfortunately, Samsung is not able to help me. For weeks they would like me to run a script (CleanupT7PlusAll.scpt), to clean the installation. But this script was never installed on my Mac, so hard for me to run it.

Any suggestion how I can solve this issue?

I believe I had the Samsung Portable SDD software installed for Mojave and Catalina but I stopped using it since Big Sur (my two Samsung T5 500 GB SSDs are not encrypted).

I have a skeleton version of Catalina installed on an external SSD. It seems to require about 40 GB of space after installation. Perhaps installing Catalina to decrypt the SSDs is a good solution. As suggested, decrypting and reformatting with FileVault enabled may be the best option. I suspect you can perform all these steps in Catalina and then mount the SSD in Monterey.

Apple has been tightening the screws on third-parties altering the core system. Kernel-extensions are being slowly blocked, have been for years. In Monterey they locked core-system into a "sealed encrypted container". Even a very popular backup/clone utility called CarbonCopyCloner concluded hat keeping a dynamic clone of the core-system container was pointless under Monterey, and they now make only "point-in-time bootable clones instead.

From the lack of success running its encrypt/decrypt core-system extensions, under Monterey Samsung should have learned that the MacOS world is shifting and they need to to adapt, not the other way around.

Agree with previous posting regarding not using Samsung Software to Manage the External Drives. All too often, the third party software is buggy or not compatible of the version of macOS it is being attempted to be installed on. Case in point - what is being experience on this computer.

macOS is very able to manage most if not all External Drives without interference.

Thanks for both replies, but I'm looking for a solution to use the drive with its full capabilities of encryption. That's the purpose I bought the drive for.

So please don't be offended that your solutions will not help me. It was perfect running on my intel based 2018 MacBook Pro with Big Sur.

Any ideas, how to solve the issue and allow me to install the app.
