New 16 inch MacBook Pro trackpad too sensitive

While typing I keep accidentally sending the cursor to earlier in the text, apparently because I brush the trackpad with the palm of my hand. This happens mostly on Word but that's the program on which I'm usually typing. On system preferences I've set Click to Firm and unchecked all those gesture boxes. I've not had this problem on previous Apple laptops. Software is up to date - Monterrey 12.1.

Is my only solution to retrain myself from many years of laptop typing? That will be tough, and maybe ergonomically problematic.

In System Preferences > Trackpad, experiment with the Click and Tracking speed adjustments. My 16-inch M1 Pro is very sensitive to long sleeves that cause aberrational tracking.
