Find My behavior between Live and Now inconsistent

In years past, Find My on an individual was always live, then in the past couple of years only updated location every several minutes.


Recently, live response began to work but not all the time. It can be live, switch to some other activities, then return and it is just now. Later can go back and it is live again. It even switches in the same request!


I can not find any option that selects live or now.


Why is the app not being consistent with its behavior.

"Now" is when the location with the position indicator is fixed at a point for a few minutes until there is a refresh and the box says Now


"Live" is when the position indicator moves in real time as the person moves (if in a car the indicator moves along the road as the vehicle does in true GPS action). Instead of "Now" is says "Live"


The "live" action is what the app always did until a few years ago, then it stopped, and recently live happens occasionally. In a span of a few minutes it can change from one action to another when returning to the app

I know what the "Now" location is and my issue is the inconsistent use of "Live" function.


Attached is a screen dump of an occasion when "Live' was in effect when the person's location moved in GPS real time as the person moved - stops at traffic signals, making turns, moves along the road IN REAL TIME not just changing every 3-4 min as happens in the "Now" function.

I have had occasions when the location has moved back-and-forth between now and live activity over the span of 5 minutes.



(the name of the person has been wiped off the jpeg, but the "Live" is plainly visible)

We understand Find My is not updating location for your iPhone as expected. Can you provide more details on what you mean by "live"? When you use Find My, are you able to see the device's location "Now"? You can find details on using Find My in Use the Find My app to locate a missing device or item.
