I have a trusted phone number associated with my account. This number is to verify with phone call. I would like to change this to text instead. I am unable to see any options to remove or edit this. If I try to add the number again with text option, it says "This phone number is already being used as a trusted phone number."
How can I change this to receive text instead of call?

By default AppleID 2 factor authentication codes are sent by encrypted iCloud notifications. You only ever get one by text or voice if you do not have access to one of your trusted devices.
If sending a code over a backup trusted telephone number, if that number is associated with a cell phone, it will go by SMS text. Otherwise it will go as an automated voice call. You don’t get to choose or assign that. It will depend on what Apple’s system detects when it tries to use the number - is the number a cellular telephone number with SMS service routing available or not?

Have you tried removing the number from your Apple ID and then adding it back to see if you can get a text option?
