I just upgrade the ram with a 8GB to 12GB for my 2009 iMac 27, is it okay?

The original was 2+2GB, and now add a 8GB =12GB

Why are you asking? Is there a problem? Here is some general information which is useful to know. Open About This Mac under the Apple logo. The window that opens has a Memory button for you to click on. That window shows you 4 memory slots and the recognized memory that has been installed in each slot. Your Mac can accept up to 12 GB of RAM. However, some Macs do not like it when only one memory module is added as you apparently have done. If the About This Mac window shows your computer as having 12 GB, you are OK. If not, then you will have to install two 4GB modules instead of the one 8 GB module.
