ICloud

Hi. I’m a new iPad user and after years of using a PD, I’m new to the world of Apple as well.

When I used a PC, I also had a subscription to Carbonite to back up all data in the case of theft or a catastrophic failure. Thankfully, I never had to use it! I have also purchased 50GB of iCloud storage.

It seems to me that I now no longer need a Carbonite subscription, and that iCloud performs the same function. Is my assumption correct?

Also, how do i confirm that all data is being backed up on a regular basis? And are there any exceptions to what iCloud will store? Is it data only or apps as well?
