corrupted LaunchPad

I've been trying to fix this for awhile, and stumbled on this advice*, which brought me hope, but, unfortunately, it isn't solving my problem.

used the command

 defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true; killall Dock


however, after LaunchPad restarts, it still has a whole bunch of icons that I can't get rid of. I know that these icons appeared when I was logged onto a VPN site for my workplace, and the Citrix Receiver dumped all these apps on my system, but I have no idea where they are located to get rid of them.


any thoughts out there? it's just a nuisance, but I do find the LaunchPad useful, and I hate clutter!

OK, as sometimes happens, I discovered the problem and the solution after stumbling on the answer on my own, so I'm going to offer my experience here, in case it may help someone else.


I mentioned above that the multiple pages of apps that were cluttering my LaunchPad came mostly from downloaded Citrix apps from my workspace. I searched for them using Spotlight, and discovered that they were all "living" in the Application folder in my user folder. When I deleted those apps, lo and behold, my LaunchPad was all cleaned up!


So, if you're seeing a lot of Applications that aren't in the main Application folder, it may be worthwhile looking in your personal user folder and see if they may be hiding there.
