How long does it take to repare the camera in the 12 pro max?

none of the cameras seem to be damaged and it might be internal. the front facing one has damage however. some features like Night time, .5 magnification, x2.5, x10, and anything with the front facing no longer work. a pop up message is also present in the general settings about a unknown camera part or its not functioning correctly.

what's the turnaround time for repair of the cameras and sensors?

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 15

Apple doesn’t repair cameras or sensors. They would replace the entire device with a service unit. The only repairs Apple performs are battery replacement and display replacement. Everything else is handled by swapping the device with a properly working service replacement device.

There's something official/public from Apple that indicates that they can do camera-only repairs on iPhones and that they stock parts for it. This seems to hint at Apple's Independent Repair Providers program being a thing today. I've also seen other public info released by directly by Apple that says Apple retail stores can do camera repairs in-store.

About genuine iPhone cameras - Apple Support
Only technicians who have completed Apple service training and who use Apple genuine parts and tools should replace iPhone cameras. These service providers include: Apple, Apple Authorized Service Providers, or Independent Repair Providers using genuine Apple parts. Replacements not performed by Apple, authorized service providers, or certified technicians might not follow proper safety and repair procedures and could result in improper function or issues with image quality or overall device safety. Apple camera parts are designed to fit precisely within the device. Additionally, repairs that don't properly replace screws or cowlings might leave behind loose parts that could damage the battery, cause overheating, or result in injury.

Depending on your location, you can get your iPhone camera replaced—in or out of warranty—by visiting an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, or by shipping your iPhone to an Apple Repair Center. Independent Repair Providers* also offer genuine parts by trained technicians for out-of-warranty camera replacements.

Now the camera cover is something completely different, since it's fused to the case and basically an all or nothing deal as a full-unit replacement.

That's something that can supposedly be done in store at an Apple Store. However, there are no guarantees about turnaround time. Devices get worked on based on technician/parts availability and can theoretically be delayed to the next day or even sent out to a central repair facility. The actual process of doing the repair and testing it shouldn't take longer than maybe an hour.

Interesting. Yet under Apple support, iPhone repair options, nothing has changed and there is no indication of anything other than battery replacement, display replacement and “other” repairs at the same old OoW prices.

I just tried it out for my iPhone.

Repairs & Physical Damage

Camera not working as expected

Bring in for repair

FWIW - I called an AASP in my area, and they said they that specifically didn't fix iPhone cameras but would have to send one out for replacement. I don't know if my local Apple Stores can just replace the camera, but it's clearly something that could be separately replaced, whether it's in store or at Apple's central repair for returning to the customer or as a refurb. Other than that, we really don't know what the price is or if it can be done in-store without someone going in and trying it out. And I'm not going to call an Apple Store because last time I tried I was on hold for 15 minutes and my discussion with them was indirectly passing messages through an Apple customer service rep.

No, but it is supposed to be coming very soon (Apple announces Self Service Repair - Apple).

My experience with repairs is pretty limited though. One PowerPC G3 (early drive failure) and one G4 laptop (display power inverter failed) both obviously years ago. Both fixed under warranty (by Apple Authorized service provider). And one first gen iPad Pro with display issues out of the box (but that was just returned and replaced with the 14 days of purchase). I’ve never had an iPhone that’s needed any service or repairs (knock wood - my 13 Pro is my 8th since 2008 so hope I did not just jinx it).

I've been through the gamut. But the only iPhone repair was a battery replacement under the $29 repair program, where I clearly got my own phone back with a new battery. Other than that all I can do is look for anecdotes and Apple support pages that may or may not tell the complete picture.

But yeah it's difficult to tell anyone here what to expect because what happens with "repair" is inconsistent. Especially difficult in some countries where all an AASP might do is serve as an agent for a replacement device, like how all iPad "repairs" are done by Apple worldwide.

I hope Somewhatillegal posts back about their experience. Presumably if they are now repairing the camera on your device and not doing a device replacement, that repair fee is less then the OoW replacement fee.

Wonder if this is also part of the upcoming changes this year allowing some user repairs and other serviceable aspects of repair versus replacement?

Apple claims that the Independent Repair Providers program has been operational since 2019, but I have yet to find a shop that participate. This release names a few.

As far as I've heard, self-service parts haven't been sold by Apple yet.
