Notification that won't close
I'n having trouble with an email message notification that won't close. I have to restart to get rid of it; none of the pull-down "options" are effective.

Greetings Tom Gleason,
It sounds as though you’re seeing a notification for an email appear towards the top-right of the display, and you’re unable to close that notification. Apple Support Communities is a great place for help, and we’re glad restarting the Mac helps provide a resolution. To confirm, are you unable to click the (x) that appears when you move the cursor over the notification? Also, have you reviewed the article below?
If not, take a look at that article as it may help with the notifications.
If it doesn’t, we’d like for you to create a new Administrator user account and test the issue there. You’ll also need to set up your email account and notifications in order to test. If you’re not sure how to create a new account, here are the steps:
Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac
Let us know how that goes!
We truly understand Tom Gleason.
We want to ensure we do all we can to work towards a resolution, and testing the issue in a new Administrator user account is a great troubleshooting step. This helps us isolate the issue further, and determine the appropriate next steps to reach a resolution. The next step we can recommend is confirming you’re running the latest macOS. If you’re unsure, you check for available updates using the steps in the article below.
If you’re running the latest macOS or the issue persists, the next step would be to contact Apple. You can find their contact options via the Get Support website.
Take care!
Confirming. I'm unable to get any reaction by clicking anywhere in that notification, particularly the upper-left X. The notification covers text and menus in other windows, so I'm not particularly thrilled at having to restart to make the problematic notification go away.
I appreciate the response, but your suggestion regarding a new admin account is sufficiently complex and of such conjectural benefit that it would be easier, but still very inconvenient, to keep restarting whenever this happens.
