The MagSafe power adapter is not lighting up when connected to the MacBook but it is still connected to the laptop but the battery is not charging.
Perhaps any/all of the three components involved here Could
need replacement: DC-in Board, Battery, &/or MagSafe Adapter.
These tend to rely on each other to form part of a semi-intelligent
charging circuit in most portable Mac computers. Most difficult to
replace: DC-in 'Combo' power Board* where possible; then battery.
You could start with the battery; or have *tech troubleshoot charge
circuitry to find contributing factors and failed other components.
⢠Mac Repair - Official Apple Support

Battery estimates and other costs may be determined @ Support.
Repair estimates if the shop suggests Logic Board, could really
mean DC-in Board; or Combo board, if MB/Air is involved. At
times, logic board may be included part; it could be separate.
[The 'power in-port' in several older models is separate. Hard
to access and secondary damages can result in attempts. To
get Apple parts and trained labor; for a qualified service.
⢠Apple Repair and Repair Status Check - Official Apple Support
https://support.apple.com/repair
Troubleshooting these can involve replacement parts; cost may
be more than a 'good working repaired' example older MacBook.
Where available, an Apple Authorize Service Provider; or Apple
Genius, may be asked about inspection and repair estimates.
As always, it's a fair idea to have more than one backup regime
with external drive and Time Machine to maintain backups. A
secondary or other primary may include backup software; clone
and other hardware too.
Good luck & happy computing! âď¸🌿🌤🙈
