Use a cheap TV as monitor for MacBook pro 2021

Hi, I have a MacBook pro 2021 with an HDMI port included. I would like to buy a cheap TV and connect it to my MacBook and use it for as a monitor. Is that ok? I don't want to damage my MacBook.

I have a $175 Spectre U40 TV downstairs that upscales 4K UHD. When I connected my new M1 mini to that TV with HDMI a year ago, the quality of the display was just terrible and I ultimately purchased a decent LG 32-inch 4K UHD display. The on-screen resolution is incredibly sharp on the LG display because of the small dot pitch that TVs don't provide because they are not designed to be computer displays.

I suggest you get a quality 4K@60 Hz HDMI cable and a decent computer display as I did and you will not regret it.
