I'm having a similar issue. I have an iPad Pro 12.9in, on iOS 15.3, trying to use sidecar via the USB-C to Lightning cable from Apple, to my Macbook Pro 16in, on MacOS 12.1.

When I try to connect to sidecar it says I need to turn on Wi-Fi or connect over USB.

I have reset the trust on both iPad and Mac, reset the USB connection to "Home" on the Mac, nothing seems to work.

I can see the iPad in the finder when it's connected with that cable, I just cant get sidecar to work. I'd rather have Wi-Fi off.

One should expect hiccups if running Beta Software iOS 15.3 not yet released to Public last I checked
