How to switch between traditional and simplified chinese

Hi fam,

I am using Traditional Characters on my Mac Pro 2021 (installed the language, next to German/English), and like to convert them sometimes into Simplified Characters or vice versa. Like on the iPhone 11 that I'm using. You just mark the text and then swap the characters, it is brilliant.

Now, this guide says how, but both ways do not work. Can anyone help?

PS: Simplified are not installed on my Mac; I like to 1-tab cap locks-key to switch between German and Tr.Chin., this is why I didn't (In case this is relevant)

What app do you have this problem in?

For me, using TextEdit (or here in Safari), there is no problem typing guo 國 , then selecting it, and going to the "flag" menu and down to Convert Text to Simplified Chinese, and it becomes 国。
