ICloud, personal domain & emails

I am a little confused - I did not take the time to read about connecting a domain name to iCloud for emails. I have a domain name hosted by GoDaddy with 3 connected email accounts. The accounts were the free webmail accounts until last month when GoDaddy switched to Microsoft 365 paid accounts - which all must by paid by 1/24 or deleted. All three are in use, but only two are paid for.

Will I be able to keep the unpaid email without paying GoDaddy once it is connected to iCloud? If not, what is the advantage of using iCloud?

Second, I went through the iCloud setup procedure and I assumed I needed to list all three of our email address. After continuing to the next step it said it would need to do some reconfiguring with GoDaddy,  which made me nervous. Will these configuration changes harm my existing emails?

Thanks for any help you can send me!
