Brand new M1 Macbook Pro MagSafe charging issue

I purchased a brand new M1 Macbook Pro in December 2021. When charging it from shutdown (for first setup) with MagSafe charger in box the charge comes/goes and continues to ding as if the power is consistent. Is there a fix for this? Very disappointing for what was slated as a massive upgrade from my current Macbook pro (Jan 2020)
