The green light at the top center of your display indicates that the built-in webcam is on.


Check any/all apps that may be using the camera ... FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, QuickTime, Google Meet, etc. If any of these are running they are probably using the camera. Shutting down all such apps should turn off the camera.


ps. For sure-fire video privacy I also cover the camera with a post-it note except when I am doing a video call/conference.

Hi there,

If you're referring to the green light on the top border of the display, just next to the webcam, this is an intentional decision by Apple and most laptop companies for security reasons, so you can easily tell if the camera is in use. You might have left some program open such as FaceTime or Zoom open by accident. Try closing down some programs or restarting the Mac.
