Hi, can anyone recommend a Video Capture Application/device to use with my MacBook Pro.
I purchased an Elgato Video Capture Device but could not get it to work.
I am trying to digitise my VHS tapes using a HandyCam Recorder and a video player. Thanks

Tried Screen Recording?:
By screen recording, you can record the video, but audio wont get recorded. If iTunes purchases, you'd have to use a Virtual Machine, and then maximize the screen, performing the recording that way. Use Parallels as the Virtual Machine app for a Mac with an M1 Processor. It will not bet recorded on the macOS itself.

I followed directions on the pack. There are 4 steps. I tried using different cords incase it was faulty. I did this numerous times. The sound worked briefly a couple of times but no sign of the image coming through. I can see and hear the tapes when I play them on my TV, just not my laptop.
I emailed Elgato for help but as yet still not received a response.
Prior to purchasing the Elgato, I asked Apple to recommend a product to digitise my VHS tapes and I was advised to google it. The product would tell me if it is compatible.
Just seems like there is no real customer service anymore.
I’ve returned the Elgato Video Capture - don’t know if it was faulty or my computer has an issue. BTW my computer is new - couple of months old.
I have been to numerous technical shops and am still non the wiser, even those that repair apple computers have let me walk out the door without an answer, but a suggestion that I have someone professionally do it for me!
Well, I guess it is back to my original question.

I can’t even get the VHS tapes to play on my laptop, let alone worry about how to record my screen!
Is this an automated answer as I am certain you have misunderstood what I am asking.
Did Elgato give you instructions that didn't work, or were you just unable to get it to work yourself ? They may have a solution with compatible drivers and etc.
There are no robots here.
Elgato support says that the device will not work with Apple silicon.
Thanks dperry112. But, what does that mean, the device will not work with Apple Silicon?
How did you manage to get an answer? I am still waiting to hear back from them.
