All of a. sudden, we can’t play anything on our Apple TV app, even though Hulu, Netflix’s etc all stream just fine with the device. We have updated the software, unplugged the box, restarted from the menu and Apple TV app still stutters while everything else is fine. Now what? Device is a few years old but runs all the other apps well.

Thanks for clarifying. We could isolate this a little more. If you are using Wi-Fi normally, are you able to use an Ethernet cable to test the Apple TV app? Can you test on another Wi-Fi network? Restarting your router might even help.
If that doesn't help, resetting will be the next suggested step: Reset or restore your Apple TV to its factory settings.

Are you certain the device is updated? Your profile says it's on tvOS 11. The most current version is tvOS 15.2: What’s new in tvOS 15 for Apple TV.

Not sure what shows on my profile as I can’t see any information on me but it is updated and set on auto-update. The AppleTV is set up under my husband’s Apple account. Any other suggestions? I don’t want to reset if there is any other way to fix it. And don’t understand why it would only be the Apple streaming that would be affected.
