Keychain iCloud copied bye mistake to another iCloud account

Hi apple community.

Really hope some one can help me understand what is going on.

I have twice experienced the following scenario.

example: On my iPhone I’m logged into my iCloud account. I click keychain OFF within iCloud settings. I sign out of iCloud. Then I sign in with another iCloud account (my daughters). Now all my keychain passwords are copied to my daughter’s iCloud account!!!

Why does this happen? And more importantly how to avoid keychain passwords to be copied from the phone to ANOTHER iCloud account just because you sign into another iCloud account on the iPhone.

Hello Tolver10,

We see you have a question about data when switching Apple IDs on a device, and we'd be happy to help.

Is it prompting you to keep a copy of data on the device when signing out of the Apple ID? If any of the options are selected when that prompt comes up, then that data type will be retained after the sign out process completes.

Also, you can check after signing out to see if the passwords are still on the device (after signing out) at Settings > Passwords.

Hi Less.

Thanks for the reply.

when signing out off iCloud I was not asked whenever to keep keychain passwords (however, I was asked whenever to keep information about calendar etc, and I answered “no”).

Maybe this is because I set keychain off before signing out of iCloud.

Next time I will manually delete passwords on iPhone after signing out off iCloud, and then sign in with a new (another’s) iCloud on the phone.
