Plugged a super drive in to my daughters new Apple MacBook Air, put a DVD in, the icon and DVD name appears and the DVD player application opens but the dvd does not play. No sound or picture, there is no noise coming from the super drive once it’s finished reading it.

If you are running early version of Big Sur this is a known issue. It can be resolved by updating to the last Big Sur version I believe is 11.6.2 or to Monterey.

Super drive works fine on iMac and plays dvd straight away
