iMessage and FaceTime won’t connect to my phone number

Does anyone know how to fix the iMessage and FaceTime to link to your phone number? It’s only allowing me to link to my email address. My phone number is greyed out and has a “verifying” message next to it. It’s been doing this since last night and I’m very frustrated because this is a brand new phone fresh out the box. Please help!

See if anything here helps.

Messages or FaceTime - Add or remove your phone number

Some things you can try. Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.

Try a restart.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch    *

Try a forced restart. See the section towards the end of the article.

Reset Device. -

If necessary

Hard reset.     -

Do a backup and try a factory reset. Then restore from your backup.

Restore to Factory setting.      *

Restore - If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod.   *

Backup - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.     *
