Hi,
Usually, the printer manufacturer's product pages have links to technical specifications. If you are lucky, these contain information about Mac operating system versions that will work with a certain printer model. If not, you could check whether a support/downloads page for the printer in question has drivers for (in this case) macOS 10.13 High Sierra.
However, there may be another way. The AirPrint technology from Apple allows supported printers to be used with macOS without having to install additional drivers, provided that the printer and the computer are connected to the same network (router). AirPrint will also make it possible to print from an iPhone/iPad without special apps. Printers supporting AirPrint are listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support.
AirPrint has been supported from as early as Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, and the technology should work with macOS 10.13 High Sierra. It cannot be ruled out that a printer manufacturer will mention a minimum system requirement higher than macOS 10.13, but that may be related to some kind of ink management or setup software (not needed by AirPrint as such), or drivers. If so, ask the supplier to verify that the printer can be used with AirPrint and your operating system version. When looking for printers in the AirPrint list, make sure that a model number is exact and complete (including a suffix, if applicable).
