My iMac won’t power on

iMac won’t start. I hear a short lite click then the fan try’s to start fails and doesn’t power on…..

iMac won't turn on I have a mid-2011 iMac which was showing vertical lines all across the screen. The only way to move beyond it was to press and hold the power button. Now, with a normal press on the power button (after waiting a minute or so), it won't start: black screen, no opening "bong" or other noises or lights. Also tried disconnecting from power altogether (pulled the plug) and it still won't start. Suggestions?
