Two factor authorization

I have a new iPad Pro. I also have an iPhone 8 I transferred everything from my old iPad to my new one and it all seems to be working well. However if I go to something like my bank or credit card and they send me a confirmation number for two factor authorization, I am no longer receiving it on my phone or on my iPad. I went through all of the instructions and two factor authorization is turned on and my two emails+ my iPhone number are all correct. Messaging is also turned on. What am I missing? I can’t even get into my bank account anymore.

Be very careful. It sounds like you’re confusing two very different things:

  1. Apple’s Two-factor authentication. That’s what you’re saying you’ve gone through and turned on. Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support
  2. Your financial institution’s two-factor [authentication/authorization]. That has completely separate instructions and is handled separately.

Hi irenefromn. vancouver, it is likely you are referring to the OTP (One Time Passcode) being sent by text message from your bank.


You have also indicated that you have checked all your settings including SMS/MMS text message forwarding as per the following link https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT208386


Can I therefore suggest you contact your mobile service provider to explain the issue and ask them to check as it was an issue in previous discussions. You could also consider discussing the issue with you bank as well as they may have other options for you to receive the OTP.
