"books" and "music" appear as a white grid icon in the iphone storage.i've downloaded these apps and used them before but when deleted them they still appear as the white grid icon app in the storage settings and wont even get deleted from there.i'm afraid as i do not want this to "mess up" my iphone.

When it comes to built-in apps, even though they are included with iOS, you can delete many of them like other consumer apps. You can learn more about which apps are able to be deleted here: Delete built-in Apple apps on your iOS 12, iOS 13, or iPadOS device or Apple Watch.
If you would like to reinstall these apps, you can tap on the iCloud download icon next to the app name. This will allow you to use these features again.
