iMessages on mac not showing contact names

HI .. I am not seeing contact names in iMessages on my mac. How to fix this

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.1

I have 3 accounts.. one icloud and 2 gmails. One Gmail has a lot of my old contacts and I used that when I had android. on iPhone I see all of those. So as you suggested, I first removed the account and then added it back. Nothing changed.

I was able to fix the problem. It seems I need to add the same account on mac as well.. I thought that it can import from the contact list in iphone.

First try quitting Messages, and launch it again:

Quit apps on Mac

Next, try restarting your Mac to see if that helps. You can do this by clicking on the ball Apple at the top left, then select Restart.

If you still have issues, make sure your Mac is up to date:

Update macOS on Mac

If you tried each of those steps and still have issues, tell us if this is happening with all your contacts or only certain contacts. Do you sync your contacts with iCloud or another account like Gmail or Outlook? If you do sync your contacts with an account have you tried removing that account, and then adding it back to your device?
