Screen goes black

Since downloading Monterey my screen will suddenly go black. MacBook Air is plugged in, fully charged and in use. Today it happened again in the middle of typing in a search bar, and when I picked up the lap top it came back to life (wonder if an "etch-a-sketch" function was added Monterey perhaps? lol.)

Any ideas why this may be happening?

The way I can get it to work again is by closing my computer and opening it again. No work is (thankfully) lost when I open the computer again. I'm wondering why that happens and what I could do to make it not happen again? It's more of a nuisance than anything else since no work is lost, but I just want to make sure it doesn't mean there is something wrong with the computer. Thanks!

Screen Showing Horizontal Black Lines One of my colleagues today turned on her MacBook Air for the first time in a week and found it displaying horizontal black lines. Looks completely toast, and I can’t find any images of the same issue reported online. Unsure what OS version she was running, likely relatively up to date. It had been left on a charger for a week. Any ideas? Thanks

Same happening here, but it happened both before and after Monterey. Computer goes completely dead, lost all open work. Have you learned anything since posting this question?
