MacBook Air screen goes black, while in use

Hey everyone,

Sometimes when I am actively using my computer (typing a paper for example), my computer screen will completely turn black and not display any information. The way I can get it to work again is by closing my computer and opening it again. No work is (thankfully) lost when I open the computer again. I'm wondering why that happens and what I could do to make it not happen again?

It's more of a nuisance than anything else since no work is lost, but I just want to make sure it doesn't mean there is something wrong with the computer.

Thanks!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.2

if you have an intel MacBook Air, I would suggest doing a SMC reset or a Nvram reset. They no longer work on the newer MacBook Air's. Try reseting your sleep preferences in Energy Saver. Like turn off put computer to sleep.
