Zoom destroys the possibility to dictate on Mac
This has been bugging me for two years: after a few invocations of Zoom, the dictation feature on my Macbook is gone.
Dictation is (for me) extremely helpful.
I also need to use Zoom quite a lot.
After a reboot, dictation works fine, both on the Macbook itself and also when it is connected to am external display (macbook lid closed).
However, after a few Zoom sessions, dictation no longer works.
I have no idea what has changed, I certainly did not change anything.
I have also tried all kinds of switches and setups: with external mic, built-in mic, display mic, switching dictation on/off in System Preferences, switching sound input in System Preferences / Sound and in SysPrefs / Keyboard / Dictation, all to no avail.
Only after a reboot is dictation working again - until the next few Zoom sessions are over.
(Zoom support is pretty mcc non-existent for me, even though my university is a paying customer of Zoom.)
Does anyone have an idea how I could bring back dictation, once it's no longer working?
Is there any kind of reset I could do? (short of rebooting, of course)
Is there some kind of process I could kill and restart? I am fine with running terminal commands.
All hints and suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Best regards, Gabriel
PS:
I am running the latest macOS Monterey on a Macbook Pro 2019.
