Problems using auto sync in final cut pro x

Whenever I use auto sync in FCPX i get this odd echoey sound on the audio. This doesn't happen when I sync manually - but obviously it takes a lot longer to do. I'm using an external audio recorder (H1n) and recording in 96k 24 bits. I do disable the existing audio in the auto sync settings and it looks like there's only the new audio being used after the sync. Why is this happening? Will be very grateful for some help.

If when you do it manually there's no echo, then the auto process must not be disabling (one of?) the other audio tracks, so you're hearing slight phasing or echo. Check the inspector to make sure only the H1N audio track is enabled.

The only other thing I can think of, which doesn't sound like it's the problem in your case, is once I had odd echo-y audio when Analyze and fix audio problems was enabled during import. This was many FCP versions ago.

Thanks for your help! As far as I can tell, the original audio track has been disabled. I ticked the 'disable audio components on AV clips' box. I don't have any of the Analyze and fix audio problems boxes ticked on import. It's a mystery. I guess for now I'll have to continue syncing manually which is a huge pain when you've got one audio track to match with multiple clips.
