I just got a new iPhone but when someone texts or calls my phone number, I don’t receive it. I seem to only have my iCloud email address to receive texts through. Any ideas?
I turned off old phone

PHone needs to be activated by your cellphone provider in order to use their features.
Did you transfer the active service SIM card from your old phone to your new iPhone? If NOT then try that so that the cellular service is moved to your new iPhone.
