I just learned that, as a security feature, the internal mic of the Macbook Pro M1 disconnects. My problem is that when I reopen the lid and wake the machine, the microphone doesn't reconnect. So it doesn't work at all, and I need to restart for it to start working again.
Anyone else experiencing this problem? Is there a fix to this?

The update may suggest the latter, however it was not a clean installation. Most of the settings were retained from the previous macOS setup. I believe that the Authorized Service Center has given you the right advice to clean install the macOS.

Can I recommend that you update your MacBook Pro to macOS Monterey if you have not already? See whether that resolves the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion, AxelF. I updated just now and, no, that didn't fix it. I also went to an Apple Service Center yesterday and they suggested a clean reinstallation and if that doesn't work than it might be a hardware issue. I think this update just suggests the latter.
This confirms that the issue is with the hardware. Is the Apple 1YR Limited Warranty still active on it?

Yes, it is. But these days I can't really afford to have the laptop in service. I need it for work. Ugh.
