Does this mean the iPad Air 2 is not compatible with any of the iPencils?
I have an older iPad and I was wondering if it’s compatible with the iPencil? I’m just trying to take notes for school.

Correct. The iPad Air 2 is compatible with some 3rd party stylus devices, but does not have the capabilities that Apple Pencil offers to newer devices.
The iPad Air 2 is also 7+ years old. I would recommend planning for a new device within the next few years.
