asher251,
Thank you for returning to the Apple Support Communities with this information. We want to ensure we offer you any information that can help with this issue.
To start, we'd like to confirm which iOS software is currently installed on your iPhone? You can check under Settings > General > About.
If you have not tried already, please Restart your iPhone. Does this help to resolve the issue? Often this simple step will refresh the apps and software on the device to solve numerous problems you may encounter. If the issue still persists, you may want to additionally try to complete a force reboot of your iPhone. Here's how: Force restart iPhone.
If the iPhone is up-to-date and the restarts do not correct the issue, you'll want to reach out directly to Apple for further assistance. You can find their contact information here: Contact Apple for support and service.
Kind regards!
asher251,
Thank you for confirming the iOS version that is on the device. Also, you make a good point about the device rebooting. However, if the iPhone is restarting due to a software issue, it's possible that the reboot (done due to it freezing) may not end processes running in the background. Force restarting the device will ensure this has been done.
Additionally, the steps in this link may help, as they deal specifically with the issue you're experiencing with the device powering off/restarting unexpectedly: If your iOS or iPadOS device restarts or displays the Apple logo or a spinning gear unexpectedly.
If you continue to experience this issue after completing these steps, you'll want to Contact Apple for support and service. We hope this information helps you out.
Best wishes.
This is the diagnostic report which I fish out of the logs. It doesn't appear on my screen but rather on
Settings->Privacy->Analytics & Improvements->Analytics Data.
I have checked for it after my phone turned itself off in the morning for no apparent reason.
As you could possibly read it off the log it’s the latest iOS available to me, 15.2
Logically, as the phone crashes it necessitated a restart to kick off, doesn’t this imply a forced reboot?
Thanks
