The ‘select all’ function on iPhone is not working properly or "tempramental" for lack of better words

Has anyone else noticed the ‘select all’ function has either disappeared in many places or doesn't work as it used to a year or so ago? I have to keep tapping on the screen and it comes up randomly, it's so inefficient and frustrating.

This is a useful function and is missing from:

-texts

-notes

-safari

I use this function OFTEN, so I am seriously missing it. Apple, can you look into this and let us know if it’ll be returned to us and make it work as it used to with a single tap? Please!

The option is definitely there but appears randomly after multiple taps.

Are any of you experiencing this or know if Apple has changed how to use it?

iPhone 5, iOS 10

Salutations He_Man,

We understand you have questions about selecting text on your iPhone.

The following article goes over the different ways to select text on your iPhone. You can select a word, a paragraph or a block of text. If you prefer to select more text, you can drag and gather more text. If your device is not running iOS 15, you can also use the drop-down near the top left of this link to change the user guide to your version of iOS and see the specific steps.

Select, cut, copy, and paste text on iPhone

Thanks.
