Duplicate photos being created on new iPhone 13.

I usually sync with library held on 10yr old iMac. NewiPhone 13 is holding many duplicated 2 or 3 copies. Help - how can I ensure iPhone does not duplicate. Also can I remove all photos from phone (30,000 photos) and re-sync with iMac to resolve problem.

How are you syncing?

It actually sounds like you might be using both iCloud and USB for syncing. Which is a recipe for creating duplicates.

If you ARE using iCloud, don't delete from the phone else they will be deleted from the mac also.
