Printing to Brother HLL8360CDW printer via WIFI

Two iMacs using the printer, one connected via a USB, and one connected via WIFI. In trying to print from the WIFI connected iMac, I get the following message: "Waiting for Authentication". I've entered several different passwords, all to no avail. Both iMacs are using Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7. Help, please.

Issues with WIFI printing from Brother HLL8360CDW printer - HELP (please)! I have two iMac computers operating on Cataline 10.15.7. The main computer is connected to the printer via a WIFI network, and the secondary one is also connected to the same WIFI network. The printer is only connected to both computers via WIFI; there is no USB cord connected to either computer. Both computers are on a 2.4 Ghz network (the preferred type of network indicated in the Brother setup information). When I try to print from the secondary computer, the computer sends the print command to the printer, but then a message window appears saying “Waiting for authentication”. I have tried a number of passwords including one for accessing the main computer, one for accessing the secondary computer, and one for accessing the network to which both computers are logged in. I would have thought that one of these passwords would have worked, but no - so I have no idea what is meant by "authentication". The printer prints documents from the main computer without a “Waiting for authentication” message. Brother printer drivers are installed on each computer, and the printer is listed in the printer list for both computers. The printer is only a printer - no fax, no scan functions. I am hoping that someone has a fix for this issue which is slowly driving me around the bend ... and it's not a long drive! 😬

"Hold for Authentication" preventing Mac from Printing to Printer shared by PC on same WiFi network I've read several very old posts about this longstanding problem, but they contain expired links, etc. So I'm wondering if there is better current information available now in 2021? My printer (Canon Pixma TR4527) is connected to my Asus (2015) Desktop by a USB cable and is shared on my WiFi network where it can be accessed by my Lenovo 2020 laptop and my iMac2019. The Lenovo prints fine using the shared printer. So, I'm assuming the problem exists in the connection between the Mac and the Asus? I'm following the Apple instructions "Using you Mac to print to a printer connected to a Windows computer". But I am only using "Guest" to connect to the printer with PCL software (I've also tried Postscript software, same problem). The item I'm printing does get sent to the printer installed on the Mac, but then is stuck in the print queue on the Mac by "Hold for Authentication". It does not get as far as the print queue on the Asus, so I'm assuming the problem originates on the Mac itself and needs to be corrected on the Mac? I have looked at instructions to fix this problem using Key Chain Access, and I have the correct username and password, but I can't seem to follow all the steps suggested for that app. For example, I can't delete the original driver listed there or add the new driver I've replaced it with. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, WC :)

Adding printer with user authentication Hi, I have problem with adding Printer on Mac. I have Konica Minolta printer set up with user authentication (by login and password) accesed via IP address and i can't find any option to add user credintials on Mac site. I have login and password to my account on printer and i have to add it on my Mac. On windows it's done in Printing preferences, but i can't find this option on Mac. Before enabling authentication i had printer added using AirPrint. After enabling authentication printing could be done using printer's public user, but public user is not an option any longer. So problem isn't printer settings nor connection between Mac and printer. Goal is to send document to printing but printing is started only after i authenticate myself on printer. Do anyone know how to set it up properly? Feel free to ask questions if more informations are needed. Mac is working on Monterey 12.0.1 PS. Sorry if it's in wrong category and please move it if it's wrong.

From my understanding (I've owned Brother laser printers for many years), you cannot combine USB and WiFi.

My experienced advice is to use WiFi for both iMacs for a seamless printing experience. 😉
