Migration Assistant didn't copy all downloads across to new MacBook

Hi,

I bought a new Macbook about a year ago and had used the Migration Assistant to transfer all my files to my new laptop.

I am now trying to go back into my downloads but I can only go back as far as 2020, even though downloads on my old computer were going back till at least 2017.

I had important files in the downloads that I need but can't find now, even when doing a search with keywords.

My questions are

  1. Does Migration Assistant copy downloads across?
  2. How do I retrieve these downloads older than 2020, do they auto delete or do they go somewhere else?

Thanks!

Salome

You would suspect if you used the Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant your user files would transfer as expected...

Alternatively—

Look on the old Mac SSD and move the files manually if necessary: Airdrop, file sharing, USBflash drive etc.

or

restore missing files from a backup of your old Mac...

restore items backed up with Time Machine
