This will depend heavily upon the style of case and its manufacturer, as many cases are model specific. Without more details of the case that you are considering, it is impossible to provide more than generic advice…
The fifth generation iPad Pro 12.9” has the new Liquid Retina XDR display that uses a miniLED backlight. This display panel is slightly thicker than the display used in the fourth generation iPad Pro 12.9”; as a consequence, so is the iPad.
A further consideration is the over-screen cover - if the case has one - as the cover will often have an embedded magnet that operates the iPad’s auto-lock function when the cover is opened and closed. Different iPad models have the corresponding sensor in slightly different positions, and as a consequence, the case/cover will be designed with the feature in mind.
Unless explicitly stated to be compatible with a specific model of iPad, some cases designs may not be suitable.
