iPhone XR - can't hear on phone calls unless I put the call on speaker

Hi I can't hear properly on phone calls unless I put them on speaker. I can hear them but it's just not loud enough and if I am outside or there is any background noise it is simply impossible to make a private phone call.

The volume is up full - is there any way I can increase the volume of the phone call?
