iPad Storage

I got a prompt that my iPad cloud storage was full. I currently pay 2.79 for 200gb of storage. I looked at the breakdown and my photo storage made up the bulk. I panicked as I didn’t want to lose access to my photos and upgraded to £6.99 a month for 2 TB of storage. When I looked again at my storage it says I was only using 59gb of my 2TB capacity. Before it was saying I was up to approximately 197gb. I’m confused and wonder if I am being scammed.

Assuming that you responded to a system alert, or email from Apple, It is very unlikely that you are being scammed. If you are now seeing a 2GB iCloud storage plan, you have genuinely increased your Apple iCloud storage through Apple.


As for what triggered the storage alert is impossible to determine from current information. An attempted system backup of your iPad (or other Apple device that is signed-in to iCloud with your AppleID) is a potential candidate if the backup would exceed available iCloud storage.


As you are no doubt aware, you can check your iCloud storage directly from iPad Settings. A high level overview of current storage use - and configured services that use iCloud - can be seen here:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud


Selecting Manage Storage from this location provides a detailed breakdown of your current iCloud storage. You can also change (upgrade or downgrade) your storage plan - any changes being pro-rated for the currently billing period.
