disk not ejected properly

On my new 16" MBP (Apple M1 Max, 32 GB of memory) I am experiencing a situation where any hard drive plugged in where I am getting a 'Disk Not Ejected Properly" dialog box. I have two Lacie Hard Drives plugged in and I receive the dialog. Sometimes they reconnect automatically and sometimes I have to pull the plug out and reset.

I have changing the cables and even changed out the drives.

I am suspecting that the USB-C plugs may not be able to support multiple hard drives.

Since I have changed the cables and changed the plugs from left to right I still see the problem.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
