IPad charger cable doesn’t lock in the charger port.

I have attempted to remove any debris in the port with toothpick and suction from a vacuum. I believe it may be a piece of the charging cable since that particular cable would only go on the port one way and other cables will not go in at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Leaving charger in while using I have been keeping my charger in my IPad while using it and it appears I have damaged the charger port on my iPad. My other charger cord will not fit and the cord I have kept in all the time keeps falling out. I think the charger damaged my iPad port. Any suggestions?

Can you maybe post a photo? It's impossible to tell by just describing it.
