MS Office transfer to Mac

Having trouble transferring MS Office from my old PC to my new Mac. Microsoft seems to say it is not possible and I have to buy it again for the new Mac. That doesn't seem right! Anyone have any luck with this?

The way I read it,

If you have a license for Microsoft 365, then you can download the Mac version of Office and sign into your Microsoft 365 account.

If you have some other version of Office, then you would need to purchase a license for the Mac version.

It's really a question for Microsoft Support.

The license for the full version of MS Office that I have allows installation on multiple platforms (see quote below).

You should be able to log into your Microsoft Office account from the Mac and install the correct version.

However, only one person can run it at a time.

"Microsoft 365 Family Subscription. For use by you and five (5) additional members of your household (up to six users total)."

If these are standalone versions of the apps and not part of their subscription service, then Microsoft has every right to charge you for a new license on a different platform. This also not something unique to Microsoft either. The majority of vendors that produce apps for multiple platforms require each platform to be licenses on each.
