Remote Content was loaded through your current VPN configuration

I think everyone has a skewed idea of what an iPhone protects and what it doesn’t. I’ve never seen the remote content was loaded thru your vpn until just a few minutes ago I was on a pc that is operating a weird operating system that mimics windows but is NOT windows at all. I was in the registry disabling some features and did the the remote access ones and pick up my old iPhone and there’s the message. The computer isn’t connected to the internet in fact it’s so old it doesn’t have a hardware network card that I can tell. So whatever you think is safe about iPhones and that we’ve been told is INCORRECT. I’ve had something on this old one that if you factory reset it it asks would you like to mimic factory

reset ?..I was like wtf does that mean?!.but it explains why if you let it sit by itself after the reset it will literally auto populate the device again on its own.

I’ve taken it to apple called apple called my ISP and my cell provider and they are all in some sort of bizarro world cause they tell me that’s normal. Idk what planet they’re on but that is anything but normal.

I only use the VPN services because of its extenisve logging and tracing because I am aware once someone is in you’re not getting them out and the mentally disturbed need a hobby and I’m boring so let them hobby away. But I would make aware credit agencies that some nitwit psychopath has nothing better to do than stalk you and try and ruin everything you worked for …lol

Finally, it would be very helpful if you posted the message you're referring to you got on your phone.

OK... Phishing messages come in all forms. Email, Text and Phone are most commong. Since I have no clue what you actually got, I'd be willing to bet it was a phishing message and the advice to ignore it would be the safest way to deal with such a message.

This makes a lot more sense than the previous “just ignore the phishing” reply 🤦🏻‍♂️.

Well technically you just did. The VPN is only as good as the provider. As long as you do your research and trust the provider it absolutely makes things better and safer.

EVEN IF it interferes with some services or requires more technical knowledge, it’s comparable to cars in a way.

Some people ride, some drive, some change their own oil, others repair them, build them or even design them.

If I’m a rider and I try to repair them it will cause more problems than help. But if I’m a driver I can leave how to change the oil without too much hassle.

Choose your battles I guess. Security or ease of use.

Only use for a VPN is if you use your phone for work and they require one to access their intranet and tools.

Use of a VPN on your personal phone just causes problems, one of them being a false sense of security.

Technically, I did what exactly? I stand by my comments. If you feel a VPN is worth the negative impacts you may experience on an iOS based device, knock yourself out. They are simply unnecessary. And they cause more issues than they prevent.

Using personal paid VPNs like Proton or Express are necessary when you have to use a shady big corp/school/etc. Wi-Fi connection.

They are cumbersome at times and you should reconfigure monthly.

I recommend going to various

reputable non paid tech sites so they can collectively concur a VPN is useful. I’m here cause I received the same notice on my personal phone with paid email encryption credentials with express VPN

I, along with most of the senior members on this forum DO NOT use a VPN on our personal iOS based devices. Coming here every day I see people having issues on their phones because they use a VPN.

That said, I do understand why company issued devices, which are managed under Mobile Device Management profiles, often come with required VPN connections, hence why there's a VPN Config location in Settings on iPhone.

Can you explain why vpn is not needed ?

Example: Hotel wifi, do you want them watching and knowing every site you visit?

Example: Man in the middle attack, with a decent vpn the ssl certificate is verified on your end through a app so you know it was not intercepted and forged than forwarded to you allowing your encrypted data to be accessed.

So would that message be normal to appear since i have a vpn profile? when i saw that message in airplane mode all i did was click the X but idk if I fell victim to the phishing link by doing that and now im paranoid.

Right Ty my phone is completely hacked I’ve been trying for months to figure out myself who an why an how it’s driving nuts knowone will help more did they believe me at 1st until I’ve recently got big proof I’ve been calling apple for months asking friends resting my phone calling my carrier calling Xfinity blaming people around me they’ve got my important information an change all my username and passwords to everything including contacts and alarms they watch me turn my tv on an off it’s sick I’m so tired of it I can’t afford security an how are the professionals letting this happen

No it’s not, it’s a message from the iPhone , not mail app . I just started getting also . I haven’t added anything to my phone
