"new message" glitch in iMessages on Macbook

Hopefully, the attached image explains the glitch.

I have a blank "new message" every time I open messages on my MacBook.

What's causing this?

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

Hello jatinfromhartford,

Apple Support Communities is a great place for help with the Messages app on your Mac. After opening the Messages app, does the New Message thread disappear, and are the messages loading as expected? If not, have you tried the steps outlined in the following article? If you haven’t, try the steps outlined there.

If an app on your Mac stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

Although the title of the article outlines different issues, these steps can still be extremely helpful in reaching a resolution.

Let us know how that goes!

Have you had the opportunity to complete the steps in the article previously linked? If not, those steps can be helpful in reaching a resolution. For reference, that article is included below.

If an app on your Mac stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

If you continue to have issues after those steps, you’ll want to contact Apple next. You can find their contact details via the Get Support website.

Take care!
